The Western Bulldogs have roared back into AFL finals contention with a comprehensive 32-point win over Essendon at Marvel Stadium

Bulldogs break out of the blocks

The Bulldogs, who had been languishing in 11th spot on the ladder, kicked the first four goals of the game and never looked back. They led by 33 points at the main break and cruised to a 16.11 (107) to 10.11 (71) victory.

Zorko, Dunkley lead the way

Lachie Hunter was outstanding for the Bulldogs, collecting 33 disposals and 10 tackles. Jason Johannisen was also impressive with 28 disposals and two goals, while Aaron Naughton kicked four goals.

For Essendon, Darcy Parish was a standout with 32 disposals and eight tackles. Jake Stringer kicked three goals, while Peter Wright added two.

The win lifts the Bulldogs to seventh spot on the ladder, while Essendon remains in ninth spot.
